Otis aubert

SHAND

Picture
Otis Aubert is an American visual artist and writer from a river community outside New Orleans, LA. After Mr. Aubert's houseboat was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, he packed a garbage bag with what little he had left of value, strapped it to his back, then headed north on foot along Highway 55. In 2006, Otis landed in Memphis, TN. He made camp under the overpass off interstate 40 that locals call The Bottoms. He managed to find work raking leaves and laying mulch in a nearby suburb. That is where I met him and convinced him to let me help him publish his book. He now lives in a small houseboat he constructed himself on the Wolf River just north of The Bottoms. Take a look at Shand, Mr. Aubert's first title.
