"Leaving a place I called home for over 21 years was not only hard but also dramatic for me and my family. In 2008, when I got the news that I was going to be migrating to the USA to start a new life, I felt a fervent feeling flowing through my body, a feeling of accomplishment, a feeling of, "Yes, I'm finally getting a chance!" I'm not going to lie, when I arrived in 2008, it was very different from what I had seen all my life on TV. It was more challenging. But I wasn't afraid to move forward, and do whatever I had to do to make it in America, although I did arrived when the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression was taking place. I think coming to America at that particular time, has made me work harder and become more passionate to be successful than I was previously. There were a lot of ups and downs, disappointments, failures, broken hearts, laughs and tears. But I'm still grateful that America is still land of opportunities."

#60for1"What advice would you give to a twenty-something years old if they wanted to know how to improve themselves and make a positive contribution to society?" This is the question that drives the latest efforts by shoe shiner come author Jamal Lancelot Adams. In #60for1, J.L. Adams is at it again as the humble shoe shiner who asks the important questions about life, love, and God. Dip your cup into the deep well of knowledge that springs forth from Adams's customers, as he waxes philosophic with them while shining up there shoes. Gathered from the endless parade of customers that visit Adams on a daily basis in JFK Airport Terminal 5, he has meticulously sifted through hours upon hours of advice and distilled them down to the 60 most inspiring and beautifully effective (and sometimes surprisingly simple) nuggets of truth. It really does take all kinds of people to make the world turn and you can meet most right there in the shoeshine chair. #60for1 is inspiring and re-instills the faith in the human race like no book has ever done before. The no nonsense homespun theories and beliefs from travelers from every corner of the globe make this a compulsory read for anyone who wants to stay on the light, right, and positive side of life.
